Our client is a leading provider of learning and development programmes to a wide variety of organisations across the UK and internationally. As a result of expansion the company is now seeking a Business Development Manager to lead the growth of the training business, focused primarily on high quality, bespoke learning programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Be responsible to the Managing Director for gaining new business sales of bespoke soft skills training programmes, in line with yearly sales targets.
- Manage and grow key client accounts, including diversifying within the client organisation, and cross selling other products and services
- Identify, develop and manage marketing campaigns (including online campaigns) that will help meet the sales targets and position the company within identified target markets.
- Initiate and manage suitable marketing events and promotional events
- Design, develop and produce appropriate marketing collateral (print and online) to help build awareness and educate prospects.
- Attend client meetings across the UK to develop the business.
- Write and develop proposals to clients.
- Support the Managing Director and Business Development Director with other business development activities.
- Manage, develop and support a Business Development Executive based at the same offices.
- Record sales activities and progress using the CRM system.
- Meet weekly, monthly and yearly activity and sales targets set by the Managing Director.
- Attend meetings with the Managing Director to understand and discuss own performance in line with KPIs and identify and plan a clear progression path.
- Become fully conversant with, and maintain knowledge of all the company products and services, and understand the difference with other related and competing products / companies in the market.
Candidate requirements
- Several years of successful experience in selling training and/or learning & development solutions in a B2B environment.
- Experience of selling to senior HR and Learning & Development professionals
- Experience of identifying, developing and running marketing campaigns to drive business results.
- Able to work in an organised and structured way.
- Possessing consultative sales skills
- Highly effective and credible communicator with the ability to build rapport and trust in senior decision makers.
- Experience of managing small sales teams would be an advantage.
- Outgoing and confident personality.
- Motivated as an individual, taking responsibility for own area of activity and targets.
- Strong work ethic and enthusiastic approach.
- Able to use strong questioning techniques and active listening skills.
- Able to interpret customer signals and appropriately respond to customer objections.
- Assertive, persuasive and skilled negotiator.
- Strong drive to close business, with a can-do attitude.
- Interest and passion for training and people development.
- Results and target driven.
