Role OverviewThis is an opportunity to join a purpose driven organisation at a pivotal moment in its data and AI journey.We are partnering with a complex, regulated organisation that is building its enterprise-wide approach to AI and data capability from the ground up. They are seeking an experienced L&D Consultant (AI & Data) to design a clear, practical and future-focused learning strategy that will shape how thousands of colleagues understand, adopt and work confidently with AI and data.This is a strategic, role, working closely with senior leadership to create the blueprint for organisation wide capability.

Responsibilities

Enterprise AI & Data Learning Strategy

  • Design a clear, organisation-wide AI and data learning strategy aligned to future skills needs.

  • Create a multi-tiered capability framework (foundation, intermediate, advanced) mapped to roles across the organisation.

  • Define learning pathways for generalist, functional and specialist audiences.

  • Establish success measures, KPIs and milestones to track capability uplift.

Foundational AI & Data Literacy

  • Shape learning approaches that build baseline understanding of AI, data concepts and responsible use.

  • Integrate existing learning initiatives into a coherent, scalable strategy.

  • Ensure learning supports practical, real-world application in day-to-day roles.

Targeted Functional Upskilling

  • Partner with business and enabling functions to identify where AI and data can add the most value.

  • Design tailored learning pathways for areas such as operations, casework, HR, finance, digital and customer services.

  • Recommend appropriate learning methods including blended learning, simulations, in-role learning and vendor-led programmes.

Technical Skills & Accreditation

  • Develop a strategy for deeper technical and specialist upskilling.

  • Identify relevant certification routes and professional standards.

  • Advise on the effective use of apprenticeship levy funding to support accredited learning pathways.

Future Skills & Horizon Scanning

  • Research emerging AI and data trends relevant to the organisation’s operating environment.

  • Provide insight into future skills requirements over the next 3–5 years.

  • Advise on partnerships with external learning providers, vendors and accreditation bodies.

Senior Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with senior leaders to ensure alignment with organisational priorities and digital strategy.

  • Provide high-quality strategic advice on building sustainable AI and data capability.

Skills

  • Extensive experience operating at a senior or enterprise level within L&D, organisational development or talent.

  • Proven track record designing and implementing data, digital or AI capability strategies.

  • Strong understanding of AI fundamentals, data literacy and responsible/ethical AI use.

  • Experience creating structured learning pathways and capability frameworks.

  • Familiarity with apprenticeship levy-funded programmes and accredited technical learning routes.

  • Ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders with clarity and confidence.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into accessible learning strategies.

Experience
