Learning Designer

Our client, a growing education provider, is seeking an experienced Learning Designer to support the development of an innovative new digital learning programme. This is an exciting opportunity to join at the beginning of a major learning initiative, helping to shape engaging online learning experiences that combine instructional design excellence with modern learning technologies. Working closely with subject matter experts, you will transform complex technical content into interactive, learner-centred digital learning. This role would suit a creative Learning Designer who enjoys building high-quality online learning from the ground up and has a passion for creating engaging learning experiences using the latest authoring tools and AI-enabled technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design engaging digital learning experiences from specialist subject matter.
  • Develop learner-centred online modules using sound instructional design principles.
  • Create learning outcomes, assessments and interactive learning activities.
  • Produce storyboards and collaborate with subject matter experts throughout the design process.
  • Develop digital learning using Articulate Rise, Storyline and other modern authoring tools.
  • Apply adult learning principles and current digital learning best practice across all learning solutions.
  • Utilise AI-powered tools to enhance learning content and learner engagement where appropriate.
  • Upload, configure and maintain learning content within Moodle or a comparable Learning Management System.
  • Manage multiple projects, ensuring learning solutions are delivered to agreed deadlines.
  • Review and continuously improve learning content based on stakeholder and learner feedback.
  • Skills and Experience
  • A minimum of three years' experience designing and developing digital learning solutions.
  • Strong experience using Articulate Rise and Storyline.
  • Excellent understanding of instructional design methodologies, including ADDIE and adult learning principles.
  • Experience creating engaging online learning for professional or higher education audiences.
  • Knowledge of AI-enabled learning technologies and digital content creation tools.
  • Excellent written communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems, ideally Moodle or similar.
  • Experience using project management platforms such as Jira would be advantageous.
  • Experience using AI video or media creation tools such as Synthesia would be beneficial.
  • Experience within healthcare, clinical education or higher education would be advantageous but is not essential.

Skills and experience

  • A degree in Education, Learning Design, Learning Technology or a related discipline is desirable. A teaching qualification or recognised Learning & Development qualification would be advantageous.
