Learning and Development Specialist

An excellent opportunity to join a growing organisation as part of a newly established Learning and Development function. This role will focus on building the learning infrastructure that helps people develop their skills, progress their careers and build the technical capabilities required for future growth. Working closely with business leaders, subject matter experts and external partners, you’ll design and deliver practical, high-quality learning solutions, with a particular emphasis on career pathways, technical development and capability building. This is a varied role offering the opportunity to shape solutions from initial concept through to delivery and make a visible contribution to the development of a growing L&D function.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain career development frameworks and progression pathways across the organisation
  • Partner with subject matter experts to develop structured technical learning pathways
  • Design and deliver workshops, programmes and blended learning solutions
  • Develop knowledge-sharing initiatives that support continuous learning
  • Create scalable learning solutions aligned with business and capability priorities
  • Work with stakeholders to identify learning needs and translate them into effective solutions
  • Manage learning projects from initial concept through to implementation
  • Measure learning effectiveness and use data, feedback and insight to continuously improve solutions
  • Work with external learning providers where specialist support is required
  • Contribute to the wider L&D strategy and learning roadmap
  • Champion a culture of learning, development and continuous improvement

Skills and experience

  • Solid experience within Learning & Development, Talent Development or a related discipline
  • Experience owning learning programmes or projects from initial requirement through to delivery
  • Strong learning design and content development capability
  • Experience facilitating workshops, training sessions or development programmes
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including working with senior leaders and subject matter experts
  • Experience managing or working with external learning providers
  • Ability to work effectively with ambiguity and turn ideas or loosely defined requirements into practical learning solutions
  • A pragmatic and collaborative approach with the confidence to work across different areas of an organisation
  • Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
  • Career pathway or technical learning pathway development
  • Competency, skills or capability frameworks
  • Mentoring, coaching or stretch-development initiatives
  • Cross-functional project delivery
  • Learning Management Systems and digital learning tools

Education

  • Relevant professional qualifications in Learning & Development, HR, Talent Development or a related discipline would be advantageous but are not essential.
