We are working with a growing organisation that are seeking a Learning & Development Specialist to support the ongoing development of its commercial teams. This role will focus on hands-on coaching and performance development, working closely with consultants across all levels from graduate hires through to experienced professionals.The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time on the sales floor, providing real-time coaching, shadowing calls, and embedding high-performance behaviours. Alongside desk-side coaching, you will also contribute to the design and delivery of training initiatives that enhance commercial capability, market knowledge, and client engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver hands-on sales and performance coaching through live call shadowing, desk-side training, and one-to-one development sessions.
  • Provide real-time feedback to support improvement in areas such as sourcing, outreach, client engagement, pitching, negotiation, and closing.
  • Act as a trusted coach and role model, reinforcing high-performance behaviours and supporting consultants at all stages of their development.
  • Partner with team leaders and managers to identify skills gaps and design targeted learning interventions to improve performance.
  • Monitor and track consultant progress against training goals, development plans, and probation milestones, reporting outcomes to leadership.
  • Support leadership capability by helping managers develop effective coaching techniques and embed consistent development practices.
  • Gather structured feedback and performance data to evaluate training impact and continuously improve learning initiatives.
  • Research and introduce new learning tools, methodologies, and frameworks to ensure training remains relevant and commercially focused.
  • Support graduate development programmes, ensuring new joiners quickly develop best practice behaviours and commercial skills.
  • Build strong relationships across the business to ensure learning initiatives are aligned with commercial priorities and organisational strategy.
  • Champion a culture of learning, growth, and high performance across the organisation.

Skills

  • Strong coaching and facilitation skills, with the ability to provide constructive, practical feedback.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to influence and build relationships across teams.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to link learning initiatives directly to business performance.
  • Highly organised and capable of managing both individual coaching and wider learning projects.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
  • Ability to motivate and engage individuals with different learning styles and levels of experience.

Experience

  • Proven experience in coaching or developing sales professionals, ideally within a high-performance environment.
  • Experience supporting graduate development or early career talent programmes would be beneficial.
  • Previous involvement in designing and delivering training initiatives that drive measurable performance improvement.

Education

  • Relevant Learning Development, Coaching, or HR qualification would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Coaching certifications or professional development in learning and facilitation would be advantageous.
