Business Development Manager - Digital Learning

£40K Basic Salary + £60K OTE

An exciting, largely home-based sales role within a well-established and successful provider of digital learning solutions. Selling digital learning and learning management systems, you will possess a proven track record in commercial sales, ideally in learning technologies or a related arena (e.g. SaaS). The role includes home based telephone sales, client meetings and visits to the office on average once a week.

This role is mainly home-based - but you will have to commute to the office around once a week.

Key responsibilities

  • Gaining revenue from prospective clients via telephone-based sales and face-to-face meetings
  • Consulting with clients and prospects on learning content and platform offerings
  • Achievement of personal sales targets (circa £350K per annum)
  • Adopting and adhering to proven and successful sales methodologies and processes
  • Build relationships and gain trust via consultative sales
  • Presenting to and influencing senior level decision makers on a range of learning technology solutions
  • Creating compelling sales proposals and bid responses
  • Managing sales pipeline to ensure accurate forecasting and maintain momentum
  • Researching and keeping abreast of developments and trends with the Learning and Development (L&D), learning technologies sector
  • Conducting effective account profiling and account development plans
  • Act in an advisory capacity to clients to overcome L&D related business challenges


  • Sales training qualifications are desirable but not essential


  • Degree educated, or equivalent is desirable


  • Current track record in sales of learning technology, L&D or related solutions (e.g. software, training services etc.)
  • Proven track record in commercial (B2B) sales, with consultative sales experience
  • Genuine interest in Learning and Development (L&D) and learning technologies
  • Results driven, a self-starter


  • Excellent questioning and listening skills with a solutions-driven approach
  • Good commercial acumen with ability to sell profitably
  • Self-motivation and prioritisation are key for this role
