Learning Design Manager

£50K Basic Salary + Car Allowance + Bonus

A fantastic management opportunity with a forward-thinking L&D function that places innovative blended and digital learning at the heart of what it does. You will be responsible for leading and supporting a current team of learning designers, including Graphic Designers and e-Learning specialists.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing and supporting the learning design team, including instructional design, advising most appropriate learning methods and project managing learning design projects
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders within the business, including Subject Matter Experts (SME’s), L&D, training delivery and management
  • Managing all aspects of learning content creation, particularly in relation to blended learning (digital learning, virtual classroom etc.) to ensure timely completion
  • Ensuring that all learning content is produced to required quality levels
  • Prioritising learning design projects and mapping ‘best fit’ content solutions across a wide variety of subject matter
  • Consulting with appropriate members of the L&D team and wider business in relation to the learning design strategy
  • Ensuring that all learning programmes align to and support business needs and result in demonstrable return on investment (ROI)
  • Researching latest learning technologies to ensure the organisation is at the forefront of innovative learning design
  • Adopting learning design principles such as ADDIE to ensure innovative, engaging and effective learning solutions
  • Recruiting additional learning design team members as and when required


  • CIPD Level 5 Certificate in Learning and Development is an advantage
  • Prince2 Practitioner qualification would be beneficial


  • Relevant education desirable


  • Experience of managing a busy learning design team designing and developing innovative digital learning and blended learning solutions
  • Hands-on experience of creating e-learning content is a distinct advantage
  • Proven experience of designing and developing engaging and innovative blended learning and e-learning content


  • Strong instructional design knowledge and experience with in-depth understanding of learning design principles
  • Good project management skills
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to understand business challenges and create learning that effectively addresses these
  • Adept at working effectively under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Possessing a management style that focuses on motivation, support and collaboration
