Learning Consultant (1 Year FTC)

A leading UK-based organisation is seeking a Learning Consultant for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This strategic L&D role supports a critical period of organisational transformation by aligning learning solutions to business goals. Youll work closely with stakeholders across the business to identify development needs, consult on the most effective learning strategies, and implement innovative, blended learning approaches. Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted learning partner for designated business areas, identifying real performance needs through learning needs analysis and consulting.
  • Create and maintain a tailored learning plan for each function, including quarterly progress reporting and annual impact reviews.
  • Design and recommend innovative, blended learning solutions using digital, social, experiential, and on-the-job approaches.
  • Manage the end-to-end training request process, ensuring alignment with organisational L&D strategy and governance.
  • Support the development and implementation of competence and certification frameworks for high-risk roles and tasks.
  • Manage relationships with external training providers and consultants to ensure cost-effective, high-quality delivery.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of L&D processes, tools, and frameworks across the organisation.
  • Support the internal communications plan by contributing learning updates, case studies, and promoting best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with L&D and internal communications teams to maintain consistent messaging and visibility of learning initiatives.

Skills

  • Strong consultancy and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – with an ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Able to navigate ambiguity and work in a fast-paced, complex environment with a focus on outcomes and impact.
  • Deep understanding of performance consulting, adult learning theory, and modern learning methodologies.
  • Confident designing learning interventions using a range of digital, social, and experiential formats.

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in a Learning Consultant or similar LD role within a large, complex organisation.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing blended learning strategies aligned with business priorities.
  • Experience managing training requests and learning governance processes.
  • Familiarity with the development of competency frameworks and certification pathways is a plus.
  • Experience working with external suppliers to deliver learning solutions effectively and within budget.

Education

  • Degree or relevant qualification in LD, HR, or a related discipline is desirable but not essential
  • Professional certifications in LD, coaching, or performance consulting e.g., CIPD, TAP, ICF are advantageous.

Resolving workplace performance issues by partnering with customers/clients to provide a systematic analysis of performance gaps, recommending appropriate performance interventions and measuring ensuing business outcomes.
