We have an outstanding opportunity with a leading Further Education organisation for a dynamic and creative commercial leader.

You will have significant experience in the execution of commercial training strategy, bringing together key stakeholders (funding, employers, curriculum) in the successful launch of a brand-new Digital Skills Training Academy. The academy will deliver a range of courses and apprenticeships, developing and delivering skills directly to the digital sector and beyond (qualification levels 1-4). Your role will be to develop the learning portfolio, engage with the employer community to successfully launch the academy, and lead and manage the development of the academy. You will play an instrumental role in setting-up and leading the academy, overseeing the delivery of its agreed vision, resulting in the delivery of excellent sector-led digital skills training and pathways through to employment for learners.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the development and set-up of the Digital Training Academy creating the required culture and environment to deliver the vision. This includes brand development, marketing, employer and stakeholder engagement, learner recruitment, training curriculum offer, staffing and facility requirements
  • Identify and follow up potential business opportunities that fall within the stated and reasonable remit of the Digital Training Academy to include working with businesses to find solutions to their training needs
  • Ensure the brand of the academy is effectively represented providing high quality promotion and reputation management
  • Maintain an awareness of emerging digital sector priorities at a national, regional and local level
  • Translate strategic plans into a financially viable business/operational plans
  • Hold responsibility for delivering income targets in accordance with the business and operational plan
  • Oversee maintenance of the physical estate and resources used by learners
  • Maximise revenues via appropriate marketing and business development activities
  • Manage the curriculum direction to ensure it meets the vision of the academy locally and nationally
  • Ensure innovative, employer-led curriculum design and delivery
  • Work with the internal subject matter experts to construct learning solutions that facilitate engagement with the end user
  • Identify gaps in the learning portfolio through engaging with key stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Project Management qualifications are advantageous
  • Qualified in literacy and numeracy L2 as a minimum or equivalent

Education

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Strong evidence of CPD

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in business management
  • Experience leading and motivating teams
  • Previous experience developing and implementing strategic plans
  • Commercial experience growing a training portfolio
  • Experience working in a similar sector recently is advantageous
  • A background in training, learning and development

Skills

  • Commercially astute and opportunity driven

  • Learning and development (design, delivery, management)
  • Passionate about learning outcomes and results
  • Able to liaise with a wide range of contacts ideally including third parties across stakeholder, government and local education
  • Knowledge of changes of recent years within the digital arena and the impact on education
  • Understanding of likely competition for services
  • Able to identify potential funding streams
  • Understanding of Further and Higher Education delivery models
  • Thorough understanding of the digital sector
